The 30-minute soccer training session #9 is an Online Soccer Academy soccer training video you can do in your backyard on your own time, outside of team soccer practice. Equipment Needed: 5 cones and a soccer ball 0-5 minutes: Warm up with the ball. Dribble around the field doing moves as you go. Go slow, go fast. Mix it up. 5-10 minutes: Set up 5 Cones going across in a small line. Then do different exercises challenging your skills to not dribble forward and hit the cones. You want to do side to side ball control exercises. Like Inside to outside basic and advanced version. Do each exercise for 30 seconds then switch, use both feet. 10-15 minutes: Fitness. 5 minutes straight dribbling with the ball. Steady pace at about 65 to 70 percent. 15-20 minutes: Set up four cones. You are in the center. Toss ball up high, control it in the direction of one of the four cones, dribble to the cone, get back in quick and then repeat. Check your shoulder when the ball is in the air to practice your speed of thought. Pretend you are taking a touch away from an on coming defender. 20-25 minutes: Chip Technique work. Set up a target like a trash can or four cones in a square and practice your chip into the target. Basically these exercises are sprinting training to increase your soccer speed and will show you how to run fast. Equipment Needed: Two Cones Exercise Player Can Do: Set up a start cone and end cone about 10 — 15 yards apart. We will now do 5 speed exercises to work on our proper running technique. 1st Exercise — Heel Over Knee Walking — 2 Sets Hands on your hips, drive your knee up and down, walk down to end cone and light jog back. Point your toe up when driving your knee up, come down on ball of your foot, do not let your heel touch the ground. When jogging back make sure you are jogging on your toes, not flat footed. A coach needs to look at you and think, that player’s got good technique. 2nd Exercise — Heel Over Knee Skipping — 2 Sets Hands on your hips, drive your knee up and down with a little skip in between. Brazilian Soccer Schools (BSS) created by Simon Clifford. Simon was a teacher before he raised funds to travel to Brazil to see what makes the Brazilians brilliant at football. Simon made his first trip in 1997 and spoke to Brazilian greats such as Zico and Rivelino on how they were coached and how they coach now. He came back to England with some weighted size two footballs and a new method of coaching. Though his first session had an attendance of only four children, Simon has made the BSS an international success. Simon also owns and runs Socatots which teaches children between the ages of six months and five years old basic football skills. Using the game of futebol de salao children use a weighted size two ball which enhances their technical ability. Proven to deliver results this has lead to Brazilian Soccer Schools becoming international and is now known as the International Confederation of Futebol de Salao (ICFDS). Futebol de Salao gave Brazilian players such as Pele, Socrates, Cafu and Juninho the technical ability which lead them to become some of the best players of their time. One of the best known english players to come out of the BSS is England and Man City centre back Micah Richards.
